What You Can Expect During a Cleaning

CARING, EXPERIENCED HYGIENISTS
Our hygienists are well-trained professionals who have been with the practice for many years. They enjoy what they do and genuinely care about your dental health and well-being.
A GENTLE, THOROUGH CLEAN
Our hygienists are thorough, and very gentle, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure. We routinely hear from patients that their cleaning was the best they’d ever received and without pain.
FRIENDLY EDUCATION
Alongside your regular cleanings, our hygienists provide friendly advice and education about proper flossing and brushing techniques. Visual aids, such as diagrams, computer simulations, charts and models are used to help you understand why good oral hygiene habits are so important to your overall health.

Gum Disease Treatment

SCALING AND ROOT PLANING
Scaling and root planing, also known as deep cleaning, are the first steps used to treat mild to moderate gum disease. Your hygienist will start by gently removing hardened dental plaque from your teeth. The roots of your teeth will be “planed” to smooth the surface. Since it’s difficult for bacteria to adhere to the freshly smoothed surfaces, your gums can regenerate without further irritation. The gum tissue will subsequently shrink, tighten, and reattach to the teeth.
ELIMINATING BACTERIA
ARESTIN® therapy contains tiny microspheres filled with a powerful, time-release antibiotic. These microspheres are placed exactly where you need them, between the teeth and gums, to help eliminate any bacteria that may remain after a scaling and planing procedure. In addition to local antibiotic therapy with Arestin, we also use systemic oral antibiotics when necessary.

We're honored by the feedback from our patients.
